
Bharati Kochar, MD, MSc
Dr. Bharati Kochar is a Physician Investigator in the CTEU, a gastroenterologist specializing in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) at MGH and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at HMS. She completed medical school at Brown University and trained in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Subsequently, she completed a fellowship in gastroenterology & hepatology as well as advanced training in IBD at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where she was on staff prior to joining the faculty at MGH. She also obtained a Master’s of Science in Clinical Research at UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. Dr. Kochar’s research platform is to improve the care and quality of life of understudied people with IBD, specifically older adults. She leads a multi-centered prospective cohort of older adults with IBD: LOGIC. Her funding is currently from the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation as well as the National Institute on Aging who awarded her a Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award (K76) to develop her expertise at the intersection of IBD and aging.
